Want to star in a movie with Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt? A casting for his upcoming film ‘War Machine’ is taking place on Friday, while extras already signed up go in for their costume fittings this weekend.
Speaking to 7DAYS on the condition of anonymity, a source revealed that extras will be put through a “boot camp” to keep up with the physical requirements of the filming.
“The filming will be in the desert. The project starts October 24 but Pitt is expected to start shooting on November 1,” the source said.
“They need people who are really fit and can handle being out in the desert. Also, because it’s a war film, some of the scenes will require strenuous physical action.”
The casting call posted on Miranda Davidson Studio’s Facebook page – the same studio behind the casting for science fiction franchise ‘Star Trek 3’ that is currently filming across Dubai – said: “Looking for ages 18-30 years old physically fit male and female all ethnicities. Date: October 16 and 17; Time: 2pm-8pm; Where: Park Rotana Abu Dhabi.”
Miranda Davidson Studio also handled the casting for ‘Fast and Furious 7’ while the movie was filming in the UAE capital.
‘War Machine’ is a satire of America’s war with Afghanistan and Iraq with a focus on the people running the campaign. The film also stars Topher Grace, Will Poulter and Anthony Michael Hall, and reportedly has a Netflix-funded budget of about $60 million (Dhs220 million.
The UAE capital will stand in for the Afghan and possibly Iraqi deserts in the film, which is based on the book ‘The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War In Afghanistan’, by the late Michael Hastings.
Pitt’s wife, American actress and producer Angelina Jolie, and their children are also expected to visit during his stay in the Emirates.
